Amlodipine is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, which is used to lower blood pressure and prevent angina. It decreases the size of narrowed arteries, thus decreasing the risk of heart attacks or stroke. Amlodipine blocks the effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) and increases the levels of a chemical called angiotensin II (ARIA). Amlodipine is available in many strengths, and it is not recommended for use by patients who have not been advised by their doctor.

Warnings

Not all men who take Norvasc tablets are eligible for this medicine. In some cases, this may result in side effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, stomach upset, or headache. If these occur, stop taking Norvasc and consult your doctor. Do not take Norvasc more than once a day. If you have had a heart attack or stroke within the past 90 days, talk to your doctor about whether you should continue to take this medicine. Norvasc is not for use by women and children.
